Click here for our 2013 Goals: Review #1 post.
We also made some financial goals. One of our goals was to pay off our Envoy which would free up a decent chunk of our income that we could apply to our school loans or medical bills (whichever is in higher demand that day/week/month, etc).
Depending on our tax return, we will hopefully be able to check off this box very soon!!! Yay!!
Perhaps our biggest financial goal is in the works. We are meeting with a financial advisor who is affiliated with Dave Ramsey and working on a spending plan.
#1: It is now a lot tougher to hide because I WORK IN A FINANCIAL PLANNING OFFICE!!! Lol. Basically we have no excuse for not getting out finances in order!
#2: What is the difference between a spending plan and a budget, you ask? Allow me. A budget is simply your incoming and outgoing money in a given time period. We are tracking our budget (every. single. purchase.) and using it to create a realistic spending plan. Our spending plan is where we are putting our money. We know where every dollar will go(theoretically) so that by the end of the month, we aren't thinking "where did our money go?!?" We intentionally and selectively spend money and this will allow to plan for the unplanned (an emergency food, savings, etc).
This is a big step for us....and a humbling one. We've gone through so many changes in the last few months, many which have affected our finances.
We'll keep you posted on how it goes as we continue to meet with our advisor.

We helped lead a Dave Ramsey class and it is fantastic!
Mark, that is great!!!
We go back to meet with our advisor tomorrow, so I'm interested to see what will happen next. So far we have just been tracking our incoming and outgoing for the month so that we can put together a reasonable spending plan.
What are your biggest "aha moments" from leading Dave Ramsey classes???
