is Bailey!!!!! (Right now she probably thinks her name is "no" because she hears that just about as often, but hopefully we'll get her trained and moving in the right direction to where she doesn't hear that word quite as much!!!)
We picked her up last week from a shelter in Oklahoma. We're pretty sure she is a yellow lab, but there could be something else mixed in--some other breed that also really loves to chew and dig--that's my guess! We think she's about 12 weeks old, but again we're not 100% sure.
She has been a lot of fun and a lot of work! This is definitely good practice for the day that we have kids! So far in just a week we have been able to train her to sit, lay down, and leave her toy (we're still perfecting that one). Those are our favorite things that she can do. She would probably tell you that her favorite things are:
- biting at our shorts and shoelaces (come on, it's just so fun!!!!!!!)
- playing fetch with just about anything (sometimes leaving the toy, sometimes not--a work in progress)
- laying on our laps (personal space? what's that??)
- getting belly rubs (she prefers them from MK)
- following MK and I around (she is seldom bored and is very busy so she enjoys when we are doing things and she can follow along and take it all in)
She's a sweet girl, and summer was the PERFECT (and only) time for us to ever get a puppy, so for now we are pretty much at her beck and call making sure that we get her house trained and socialized to where we can live our lives without her interfering. We're note quite at that point yet, but we're working on it. We are blessed that she likes her crate and does really sleeping in it at night!! That makes all the difference in the world. She's definitely our pride and joy right now, and we're having a lot of fun on this new puppy journey.
She does really well in the car. It puts her right to sleep!

Admire you for taking on a "rescue puppy"!! You can sure feel good about that! Once you get through these first little health issues, I'm sure she'll be a nice, healthy, puppy! She's a great grandpuppy!! She'll keep you busy this summer for sure!! She's already learned so much from you guys!! Way to go!!!
Thanks for the comment, Camie! It has been a really good way for me to write some things down from my first year of teaching and not forget/lose all the memories and small things that happened along the way!
